There are several kinds of residential heating systems available to American home owners. Your choice of heating system will depend on the size of your home, the number of people, the weather in your area and a host of other factors. A large home doesn't necessarily require a large sized heating system. In fact, an over sized heating unit can not only lead to energy wastage, but can also make your home uncomfortably warm. Furnaces have been one of the most popular residential heating systems in use in the country. Gas furnaces can be more energy efficient if you already have an existing gas line. However, these require certain precautions to be followed during installation and operation. Your gas furnace should be serviced at least once every 3 years. You can also change the filters every few months to keep your system running smoothly.
Residential heat pumps are highly efficient HVAC systems that work as both heating and air cooling systems, depending on the temperature. Make sure that you take care of any duct leakage in your heat pump system to avoid high energy bills. Besides the above, there are also radiant heating systems in which heat travels through the home, warming cold objects and surfaces as soon as it touches them. This makes for a more consistent and effective residential heating system. Radiant heaters have been used for many years, but have recently come to be accepted as highly efficient residential heating technologies.
To ensure maximum energy efficiency, always select a residential heating system that's manufactured by a reputed company. Bryant residential HVAC and Carrier residential air conditioning are just two of the companies that manufacture high quality heating systems.
